EDUCATION
Our Approach
KUNE’s educational programming is rooted in the belief that music is a powerful tool for connection, cultural understanding, and collective learning. Through live performances, workshops, and curriculum-connected resources, KUNE creates spaces where students can explore global music traditions while experiencing music as a shared, participatory practice.
In the Classroom
Designed for students from Kindergarten to Grade 8 and adaptable to different age groups, KUNE’s programs and resources introduce instruments, rhythms, and musical traditions from around the world in an accessible way. Performances are interactive and engaging, inviting students to participate through movement, call-and-response, and active listening. Each session encourages curiosity, creativity, and respect for diverse cultural expressions.
Representation & Belonging
As a collective of immigrant and Indigenous musicians, KUNE brings lived experience into educational spaces. Students encounter artists whose stories and cultural backgrounds reflect the diversity of their communities, fostering a sense of belonging and representation. These encounters support empathy, cultural awareness, and meaningful conversations about identity, migration, and shared humanity.
Supporting Educators
To extend learning beyond the performance, KUNE provides curriculum-connected resources for teachers. These materials are designed to support classroom goals and help educators integrate global music, arts, and social studies in accessible and meaningful ways before and after each program.

Curriculum Resources for Teachers
In 2023, KUNE joined forces with music educators to create curriculum resources that are accessible and easy to use for teachers in the classroom.
This resource is designed to work as a self-standing lesson plan but KUNE is available for school visits, concerts and workshops that would greatly enrich the experience of your students!
In March 2023, we tested this resource with students from four TDSB (Toronto District School Board) schools. Almost 150 students participated!
